Vijayan's request unheard of: Chandy

Alappuzha, Sep 25 (PTI) Leader of Opposition in Kerala assembly Oommen Chandy today said the request of CPI-M state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan to question Defence Minister A K Antony in Lavalin graft case was only a ploy to prolong it.

Talking to reporters here, Chandy said the request of Vijayan, an accused in the case, to question Antony, a former Chief Minister, was unheard of.

"An accused in a case deciding a prosecution witness was unheard of. It was an attempt to prolong the case," he alleged.

Vijayan had yesterday filed a petition before the CBI special court seeking a direction to the investigating agency to question Antony in the case.

The case relates to the alleged corruption in the award of renovation contract of three hydel projects in the state to Canadian company S N C Lavalin.
