Kerala CM declines to meet scribes

Kozhikode, Mar 1 : Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today declined an audience with journalists when they went to meet him to seek his comments on the ongoing war of words between him and CPI(M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan.

"This is the way out, show them...," he told security guards when a group of scribes attempted to sneak into his room at the government guest house to get his reaction.

Speaking at a function in Thrissur yesterday, Achuthanandan had hit back at Vijayan, saying that people should be aware of 'Gorbachevs' who brought about the downfall of the Soviet Union.

Addressing the conclusion of the party's 'Nava Kerala March' in Thiruvananthapuram on February 25, Vijayan, who had led the 23-day long rally, had recited a couplet to say no leader is above the party and Achuthanandan's remark was seen in reply to that.
