Antony's son receives threat, security up at Delhi College

New Delhi: Delhi Police Friday increased security in and around the St. Stephen's College after Defence Minister A.K. Antony's son Ajit, a student of the college, was threatened by an outsider.

According to highly placed police sources, Ajit, a second-year BA student, was threatened in a washroom of the college Thursday by a stranger who said he will blow up the college.

'He was threatened by some stranger and we are looking for him,' said a police source.

A bomb disposal squad and a dog squad carried out checks at the campus. However, Ajit did not attend classes Friday.

Security personnel also checked the identity cards of the people entering the college campus.

College principal Valson Thampu briefed the students in the afternoon about the new security measures in the campus that included regular checks by bomb disposal and dog squads. However, he did not make any reference to the threat to the minister's son.

He said students now would not be allowed to enter the campus without their identity cards.
