Mohanlal denies agreeing to Azhikode mediation

Kerala film row worsens as Azhikode enters fray

Thiruvananthapuram: There is a new twist to the controversy in the Malayalam film industry involving actor Thilakan, with writer and social activist Sukumar Azhikode joining the debate.

Thilakan is currently facing the heat from various film workers' organisations, including the Association of Malayalam Movies Artistes (Amma) over his remarks against some A-listers and directors.

Azhikode said he had got a promise from leading star Mohanlal that the actor would sit across the table with Thilakan and sort out the differences.

However, confusion followed when Mohanlal told a Malayalam television channel that he had given no such promise, and that he considered Azhikode's pronouncements as "some joke by an aged uncle".

Mohanlal went on to describe the writer's statements as some "hallucination" and that what the senior writer was saying was "pure nonsense".

Mohanlal also denied speaking to Azhikode from Dubai. He reminded Azhikode that the issues were between Thilakan and the associations and wondered how he and Thilakan could meet and sort them out.

Meanwhile, Thilakan stated that he would only agree to such talks "on certain conditions". He, however, would not spell out what those conditions were.
