Kollam: Faced with the prospect of a disciplinary action, senior CPI-M leader and Kollam city Mayor N Padmalochanan today expressed 'deep regret' for embarrassing the party by inaugurating the RSS organising committee office.
'This is a serious lapse on my part. I should not have attended the function. I deeply regret for what had happenedand I will be more careful in future to avoid such conduct,' Padmalochanan told reporters.
CPI(M) sources said Padmalochanan tendered the apology since he would have faced stringent disciplinary action if he declined to regret since the party leadership has taken a serious view of the matter.
He met the state leaders in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday and explained his position.
