No Indian will accuse Antony: Chandy

3 April 2009
Kozhikode: Refuting allegations of corruption against Defence Minister A K Antony, his long-time friend and Opposition Leader in the Kerala assembly, Oommen Chandy Friday said `no one in the country will dare to accuse Antony of being corrupt'.

`Will anyone in India believe if you say that Antony is corrupt?', he asked in response to a question on charges of corruption levelled against Antony in the medium range surface-to-air missile deal with an Israel company.

CPIM was raising such `baseless' charges only to divert the public attention from the SNC Lavalin corruption case in which the party's state Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan is sought to be arraigned as an accused by CBI, the senior congress leader said.

`No Indian will believe even if one says that Antony stood company to corruption', he said, participating in a `Meet The Leader' programme, organised by the Calicut Press Club here.
