Enough is enough, PM on Advani

New Delhi: An increasingly combative Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday said his decision to hit back at Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leader L.K. Advani, who has been attacking him consistently for being a "weak prime minister" was a conscious choice as "enough was enough."

"Any serious political observer knows my remarks on Advani are true. I owe it to myself and the people of India to show where the shoe pinches. Enough is enough," Manmohan Singh said Wednesday at an interaction with members of the Editors' Guild.

His reply was in response to a question whether his recent strong words against Advani was a conscious or impulsive one and whether a certain bitterness had crept into their relationship.

A day earlier Advani decided not to attend a dinner hosted Manmohan Singh as a farewell for Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee while the two barely exchanged words when they sat next to each other at a function in Parliament House.

The prime minister also pointed out communalism will be a disaster for the country and said he took credit for no communal riots breaking out in after the 26/11 terror strikes in Mumbai.
