Highly educated persons in Kerala poll fray

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala, known for its high literacy rate, will see many qualified persons ranging from post-graduates to doctorates, test their electoral fortunes in the Lok Sabha polls.

Topping the list is none other than former United Nations diplomat and Congress candidate Mr Shashi Tharoor, who is making his electoral debut from Thiruvananthapuram.

Mr Tharoor, who served as the UN Under-Secretary General, holds a Ph.D from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Mr N K Sudheer, Congress candidate from Alathur-SC constituency is a B.Tech graduate in Nautical Engineering from Lo ndon and is a chief officer in Merchant Navy.

LDF supported Independent candidate from Ponnani Prof Hussein Randathani, holds a Ph.D in history and is currently the Principal of MES Keveeyam College, Valancherry in Malappuram district.

BSP candidate from Thiruvananthapuram Mr A Neelalohithadasan Nadar is a Doctor of Philosophy in Hindi. Dr K S Manoj, the CPI-M nominee in Alappuzha, is a doctor.

Among the other Congress candidates Mr K V Thomas from Ernakulam is a retired physics professor and Mr G Balalachandran (Attingal), a retired lecturer. Former Union Minister Mr Mullapally Ramachandran (Vadakara), Mr P T Thomas (Idukki), and Mr K C Venug opal (Alappuzha) are post-graduates with bachelor's degree in law. - PTI
