Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has given recognition to a lottey banned by the Sikkim government. The income tax department gave sanction to Sikkim Super Deluxe lottery which was banned by Sikkim.
The government gave sanction for distribution of the Sikkim Super Deluxe lottery among the eight lotteries banned by the Sikkim government, by accepting tax for lotteries of which the lucky draw will be held in August. The Sikkim government banned 8 lotteries saying that companies were functioning illegally and violating rules. The lotteries were Sikkim Super Deluxe, Platinum, Kanjan Junga, Singam, Kuyil, Nadi Precious Deer and Upcoming future. Among the eight, Sikkim Super Deluxe and Deer have business in Kerala.
Sikkim Lottery director has given a letter to the wholesale dealers of lottery, Future Gaming Solution, citing that selling of the lotteries have been banned from July 5. But in Kerala both these lotteries were sold in July and the tax department has also collected tax. For each lucky draw, Rs 7 lakh have been remitted at the Palakkad Income Tax office. As per statistics, a sale of Rs 50 crore a day is taking place in Kerala.
The lottery mafia grabbed Rs 1500 crore within a month through the sales of lotteries banned in Sikkim. Meanwhile, the Income tax official said that the ban by the Sikkim government had not been informed
