Kerala politician's wife held for LeT links

17 Dec 2009
The Kerala High Court today rejected the anticipatory bail plea and arrested Soofiya Madani, wife of PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani, who has been listed as an accused in the burning of a Tamil Nadu corporation bus near Kochi in 2005. LeT South chief T Nazir is the prime accused in the case. Kerala police had traced a link between Soofiya Madani and T Nazir.

Nazeer was arrested along with his associate by the Bangladeshi Rifles and handed over to Indian security agencies recently. He is being questioned by police in Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in connection with different terror-related cases, including the 2008 Bangalore bomb blast that claimed one life and injured several others.

Based on the statement of T Nazir, Madani's wife Soofiya has been named by Kerala police as an accused in the burning of a Tamil Nadu corporation bus near Kochi in 2005, during a protest against detention of Madani regarding Coimbatore bomb blast in 1998 that killed 58 and injured over 200 others.
