A young engineer was held while making bombs

Kozhikode: A young engineer, Loyd, 24, from Thevara, Ernakulam, was held while making bombs to loot a jewellery shop. In the course of making the bombs at a private lodge near Sreekandeswara temple in Mavoor, the explosive materials exploded and he was injured. Local people informed the police on hearing the noise of the explosion.

Police reached the spot and found explosives used for bomb making, a cylinder carrying butane gas, masks and gloves. Loyd, who completed engineering from Scotland, told his family members that he was going to England and then came to Kozhikode from Ernakulam.

He collected the explosives needed for making bombs from Madurai and Bangalore. Police said he got this inspiration from TV. He said his intention was to earn Rs 40 lakh which he had spent for his studies.
