Thiruvananthapuaram : A case was registered against Reporter Channel MD Nikesh Kumar and reporter of the channel Pradeep C Neduman, here today.
The case was in connection with telephonic conversations by jailed former Minister R Balakrishna Pillai, who is undergoing one-year imprisonment in the Idamalayar Graft Case, sources said.
Mr Pillai, currently admitted to a hospital here, was involved in conversations with the reporter over mobile phone, violating the jail norms.
The case was following a direction by the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court here.
It was alleged the reporter prompted Mr Pillai to talk through the phone on September 29, violating the rules.
The conversations were in connection with the attack on a school teacher at Valakom. The school is under the management of Mr Pillai.
Though Mr Pillai had spoken to the reporter on condition that he would not be quoted, the channel later aired the telephonic talk.
Later, the jail authorities extended his jail term to another four days as a punishment for violation of the rules.
