Clash in Kinaloor, 50 persons injured

Kozhikode: Clashes were reported between natives of Kinaloor panchayat and the policemen when the locals prevented officials from conducting a survey for road development of Kinaloor KSIDC park. The mob pelted stones against the police who resorted to lathicharge and grenade attack to disperse off the crowd.

More than 50 people were injured, including police, mediapersons and locals. The protestors, including women and children, blocked the survey team and poured cow dung on the police. When the Thamarassery DySp Kuberan Namboothir's head was injured in stone pelting, the police used lathicharge.

The mob destroyed vehicles including a police van. The injured have been shifted to different hospitals. More police force which reached the spot cleared the air. The survey work has been resumed but the area still remains tense.
