MD, Directors sent to jail for polluting water

Alappuzha : A court here today announced two years imprisonment for a company's Managing Director and five directors for polluting water.

Alappuzha Judicial First Class Magistrate Court found Managing Director of N C John Company and its directors guilty of polluting water at their plant at Thumpoly, north of Alappuzha town.

Two women approached court against olluting the water.

Though the company had already approached the High Court to quash the charge imposed upon them, HC rejected their petition and directed the Lower Court to continue the case.

In the case, court observed that NC John Company, which was one of the leading coir exporters in Kerala, had violated pollution rules.
