New Delhi, Dec 4: The National Investigating Agency will take over the case relating to the Kozhikode double bomb blast case.
The Union home ministry has notified the decision to take over the investigations into the blast that happened on March 3, 2006.
This is the first time that a case from Kerala is being taken up by the NIA formed after the 26/11 Mumbai attack. An investigating team of the NIA will soon reach Kerala.
The case relating to the blast at Ernakulam collectorate will be investigated by the Kerala police. The centre had sought the opinion of the state government regarding this, but Kerala had informed NIA that since the investigations are on the final stage it will not be right to change the investigating agency.
NIA decided to take up the case after the role played by several Keralites in bomb blasts in several parts of the country became visible.
