The Director General of Prosecution did not oppose the request of the Petitioner
Decision on arrest depending on verdict
Kochi: The Kerala High Court deffered the anticipatory bail plea submitted by Soofia Madhani, wife of Abdul Nazar Madhani and the tenth accused in the Kalamassery bus burning case to the 17th of this month The verdict by the court assumes significance as a decision on arresting Soofia Madhani depends on the verdict. A new lawyer appeared for Soofiya today in the court and demanded more time to study the case. The Director General of Prosecution did not oppose the request and the court pointed out as a reason for upholding the request.
The govt informed the court that they cannot give guarantee that Soofiya could be omitted from arrest, till the case is settled. The counsel for Soofia Madhani had pleaded for an assurance in this matter. The counsel also informed the court that Soofia would appear before the investigating official on Tuesday, if an assurance on arrest is given.
