THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In his first public function after a brief hospitalisation, CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has unleashed a scathing attack on anti-corruption activist C R Neelakandan who had written a book exposing Pinarayi’s role in the SNC-Lavalin graft case.
"Neelakandan is not an elephant, but a white elephant.
He is a bad model for our society. A section of the media is sponsoring people like Neelakandan,’’ said Pinarayi while inaugurating the state conference of Employees Federation @ Information Technology, an association of IKM employees, on Tuesday.
"Neelakandan has approached the Court with a plea that a public sector company would exist only if he worked there. Can any employee in the state imitate him as a model? He is an excellent model on how not to work in a company. There are some Neelakandans in our state who demand salary promptly without doing their work in the institution. This is a curse on our society,’’ Pinarayi said.
Referring to the delay in the completion of the work awarded to the IKM by the LSG Department, Pinarayi said those who are at the helm of IKM is responsible for that. "If there are any shortcomings in that work, it is not your fault. It is the fault of those who control you,’’ he said.
K.K.Jayachandran MLA presided over the function.
M M Lawrence inaugurated the website of the organisation.
CPM district secretary Kadakampally Surendran and CITU district secretary S S Potti spoke.
