Kochi : The mother of K. Satish, who the police claim stabbed Muthoot business group scion Paul M. George, filed a petition before the high court Monday, seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the incident.
Satish's mother Vilasini alleges that her son is being framed by the police. She said the police had made Satish place a bundle containing a knife that they say was used in George's murder.
Vilasini filed the petition through her counsel Ramachandran and the court is expected to look into the plea Tuesday.
George, 32, was killed Aug 21 midnight near Alappuzha while he was travelling with two men, Om Prakash and P. Rajesh, both of whom had criminal records. The police have since arrested Satish and 17 others for their role in the crime.
According to Inspector General of Police Vinson M. Paul, George was driving a Ford Endeavour vehicle, followed by a Scorpio vehicle that was being driven by George's driver.
The Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party havecried foul in the manner the case is being investigated and have alleged that police is under duress because of the alleged links between state Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's son Bineesh and Om Prakash and P. Rajesh, who are now absconding.
Balakrishnan has, however, constantly denied allegations that his son was involved in George's murder.
The Congress party, meanwhile, staged a sit-in demonstration in front of the state secretariat Monday against, what it called, the criminalization of politics by the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M)-led government and demanded that Balakrishnan resign.
'Balakrishnan is one of the worst ever home ministers that the state has seen. Today the scene is that Balakrishnan is shielding these goondas and not the people. It is a shame and it is time that he resigns. The police is yet to nab these two goons (Om Prakash and Rajesh),' said state Congress chief Ramesh Chennithala.
George's murder is likely to dominate the state assembly session that begins Tuesday.
