Thrissur: CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan Tuesday said there was no difference of opinion between him and Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan on Left Democratic Front RPT Left Democratic Front's electoral understanding with People's Democratic Party, led by Abdul Nasser Madhani.
The Chief Minister had recently stated that reports about Madani's terror links could neither be accepted nor denied.
"The court has cleared him (Madani) in the Coimbatore blasts case. But what happened afterwards is being inquired into by the special police team," he had said.
Vijayan had dismissed reports on Madhani's alleged terror links, saying he is a secular leader and was against terrorism.
The reports had been investigated by police and everyone had expressed satisfaction over the probe, he had said.
Speaking at a meet-the-press programme at Thrissur press club, Vijayan said the CPM had taken the decision to accept PDP support in the presence of the Chief Minister. He said the prospects of the Third Front at the national level were getting brighter, with allies of Congress led UPA and BJP led NDA deserting the fronts.
'One after the other, allies of NDA and UPA are deserting their fronts, putting them in a miserable position. BJP is in a worse position than the Congress,' he said. He expressed the hope that the Church would support LDF.
