CPI(M)-JD(S) ties take ugly turn in Kerala

Kozhikode: Three days before Kerala goes to Lok Sabha polls, war of words seems to be intensifying between coalition partners in the state, with JD(S) state President M P Veerendrakumar asking CPI(M)'s Kerala Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan not to interfere in his party's affairs.

"Let Vijayan not interfere in JD(S) affairs. It is our party and not the CPI(M), which will decide who should be our representative in the state Cabinet," Veerendrakumar said, addressing a party meeting here Sundy night.

Veerendrakumar was replying to Vijayan's remarks that the JD(S), whose lone minister resigned from Cabinet recently in the wake of CPI(M) fielding its nominee in the Kozhikode Lok Sabha seat, would be represented in the LDF ministry soon after the polls.

"If Vijayan is going to decide our party affairs then the JD(S) party office can very well be moved to the AKG Centre (CPI(M) headquarters)'" he said.

Asking Vijayan to first take care of the problems in the Marxist party, Veerendrakumar said "CPI(M) is facing a series of problems including the SNC Lavalin case. In this situation, let him not worry about the JD(S)", he said.

Flaying Vijayan for describing Veerendrakumar as "silly" for remarking against noted businessman Faris Aboobacker, he asked "why Vijayan gets upset whenever Faris is criticised? For him, a person like me who had worked with his party for decades is silly and Faris is honest".
